Twilight is an upcoming 2008 film adaptation of Stephenie Meyer's 2005 best-selling . Directed by Catherine Hardwicke, the film stars Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson. The film will be released in North America on November 21, 2008, taking the release date that the Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince filmpreviously held.

Plot synopsis
Seventeen-year-old Isabella Swan (Kristen Stewart) moves to the small town of Forks, Washington to live with her father, Charlie Billy Burke. There, she finds herself drawn to a mysterious classmate, Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson), who is revealed to be a 108-year-old vampire who is physically just 17. Although Edward discourages the romance at first, they soon fall deeply in love. When the arrival of three nomadic vampires, James (Cam Gigandet), Victoria (Rachelle Lefèvre), and Laurent (Edi Gathegi) puts Bella's life in danger, Edward and his family, Alice (Ashley Greene), Carlisle (Peter Facinelli), Esme (Elizabeth Reaser), Jasper (Jackson Rathbone), Rosalie (Nikki Reed) and Emmett (Kellan Lutz) put their lives at stake to save her before it's too late.
Production


When Summit Entertainment reinvented itself as a full-service studio in April 2007, it began development of a film adaptation of the 2005 vampire novel written by Stephenie Meyer,having picked up the rights from Paramount Pictures in a turnaround .The company perceived the film as an opportunity to launch a franchise based on the success of Meyer's book and its sequels. The following October, Catherine Hardwicke was hired to direct the film with Melissa Rosenberg writing the script. Hardwicke and Rosenberg collaborated on the screenplay, completing it over the course of six weeks. Production began in February 2008, and filming lasted until May 2. Scenes were filmed primarily in Portland, Oregon. Kalama High School serves as the primary setting for the school in the book, having been chosen over Forks High School itself.Other scenes were also filmed in St. Helens, Oregon.The studio hopes to create a series of at least three films based on Meyer's books. Two teaser trailers have been released for the film.

• Kristen Stewart as Bella Swan, a clumsy seventeen-year-old girl who moves to the small town of Forks, Washington from Phoenix, Arizona about half-way through her junior year of high school.
  
• Robert Pattinson as Edward Cullen, a 108-year-old vampire who appears to be seventeen. He is Bella's love interest. He has the ability to read minds, along with superhuman speed and strength.
  
• Peter Facinelli as Carlisle Cullen, a four-hundred-year-old vampire who looks to be in his mid-20s. He serves as the town's physician and is the father figure of the Cullen family.
  
• Elizabeth Reaser as Esme Cullen, Carlisle's vampire wife and a mother figure to the Cullen family.
  
• Ashley Greene as Alice Cullen, a member of the Cullen family who is married to Jasper. She can see the future, based on the decisions that people make.
  
• Jackson Rathbone as Jasper Hale, a member of the Cullen family who can control emotions and is Alice's husband. He is the Cullen who has the most difficulty maintaining their "vegetarian" lifestyle.
  
• Nikki Reed as Rosalie Hale, a vampire member of the Cullen family who is described as the most beautiful person alive. She is married to Emmett.^[10]
  
• Kellan Lutz as Emmett Cullen, a member of the Cullen family who is described as extremely muscular. He is Rosalie's husband and true love.
  
• Cam Gigandet as James, leader of a group of nomadic vampires who intends to kill Bella ^.
  
• Rachelle Lefèvre as Victoria, James' mate who assists him in finding Bella.
  
• Edi Gathegi as Laurent, the most civilized member of James' coven^.
  
• Sarah Clarke as Renée Dwyer, Bella's mother who lives in Florida with her newlywed husband, Phil.
  
• Billy Burke as Charlie Swan, Bella's father and Chief of Police in Forks.
  
• Taylor Lautner as Jacob Black, an old childhood friend of Bella's and a member of the tribe.
  
• Gil Birmingham as Billy Black, Jacob's father and a friend of Charlie's.
  
• Solomon Trimble as Sam Uley, a member of the Quileute tribe who is a werewolf.
  
• Christian Serratos as Angela Weber, one of Bella's new friends in Forks.
  
• Michael Welch as Mike Newton, one of Bella's new friends who vies for her attention^.
  
• Anna Kendrick as Jessica Stanley, Bella's first friend in Forks.
  
• Gregory Tyree Boyce as Tyler Crowley, another one of Bella's classmates, also vying for Bella's attention.
  
• Justin Chon as Eric Yorkie, one of Bella's classmates who vies for her attention.
  
• Matt Bushell as Phil Dwyer, Bella's stepfather who plays minor-league baseball in Florida.
  
• Ned Bellamy as Waylon Forge, one of Charlie's friends at the police station; this character is not featured in the book Twilight.
  
• José Zúñiga as Mr. Molina, the Biology teacher at Forks High School; in the book Twilight, this character's name is Mr. Banner.
  

Soundtrack


Hardwicke revealed in an interview with MTV that a song by alternative rock band Muse, later revealed to be "Supermassive Black Hole", would be included on the film's soundtrack. Hardwicke said that they may record a remix of the song to give it "a little bit of extra Twilight stuff to fit the scene". She also stated that two songs written by Robert Pattinson, who plays Edward, will be included on the soundtrack as well.^[21][22]
